It’s imperative to protect the healthy ecosystems and biodiversity for all Ontarians, present and future. The interconnectedness of species within ecosystems means that protecting endangered species is crucial for maintaining overall environmental health. While the government may argue that these changes aim to balance economic growth with species protection, many experts and citizens worry that this approach is short-sighted. The long term consequences of weakening species protection will be severe and difficult to reverse. Weakening protection for one species has cascading effects on entire ecosystems. Reconsideration of these changes echos the concerns of many environmentalists, scientists and Ontarians.
