Ontario’s so-called « need » for economic growth should never impact decisions made concerning the protection of endangered species, and so the prospect that this is something endangered species legislation should be responsible for maintaining is rediculous and reprehensible. Allowing development to proceed after only online registration is insane. Developers have finiancial incentives to lie. It is the job of endangered species legislation to stand up to would-be habitat destroyers, not greenlight them. And harassing endangered species is wrong. These proposed updates will only serve to enrich the premier’s developer friends, and doing it under the guise of updating environmental legislation is wrong.
