Taking away the Ministry's powers to review and approve permits will put species at risk. It puts the onus on builders and is a MASSIVE conflict of interest -- their interest is in the money NOT the species. The Ministry's interest is in species protection, not the money the infrastructure will bring. Hence the need for the permits.
"Harass" needs to remain. Harassment can force a species to move to a less desirable location and limit breeding.
Indigenous peoples need final say. Their wisdom knows best, and science has continued to prove this repeatedly (a recent study found that trees talk to one another, for example. Indigenous peoples have said this for millennia).
Ontario can do better. We need to balance conservation with economic growth not sacrifice one for the other. Focus on better labour laws to grow and strengthen the middle class.
