I am a former employee of the Ministry of the Environment, Parks and Conservation. I was a Provincial Officer for over 25 years. I was employed during the time frame of the Conservative Government downloading the Endangered Species Act onto MOE from MNR. It was a complete surprise to us field officers. Not only did we not have the basic understanding of the Act but none of us had the appropriate tools, background and/or extensive knowledge on how to deal with it. In addition to MNR having specialized teams trained in the Act they also had the resources to deal with it properly (including fire arms).
Now the Government wants to further decimate the already failing Act (by MOE regulators) is the most ignorant, ill informed and incompetent thing I have read since the Act was dumped on MOE.
The amount of further damage this Bill will bring to our already endangered species is unprecedented.
I have spent my lifetime living in Ontario and serving its citizens; I am no longer proud.
