I am not in favour of the proposed changes to the SARA. It feels short-sighted and ultimately harmful to all living things in the long run. For humans, the loss of biodiversity which will ultimately lead to extinction of species at an unnatural rate, will negatively affect our food production, carbon capture and natural clean water, and even our defence against disease (via beneficial bacteria being lost that would otherwise keep viruses in check). Once destroyed, these ecosystems are gone forever. We have already done enough irreversible damage. Let us think more creatively and sustainably going forward.
