This is an attempt to use a flimsy excuse (US aggression) to weaken environmental protections. Repealing the 2007 Endangered Species Act makes an already precarious environmental situation worse, leaving ecosystems, plants, and animals without meaningful protection. There is nothing in this bill that will benefit the province as a whole - instead, it will further weaken the ecosystem services upon which we all depend (humans and animals alike). It puts decision-making in the hands of profit-making developers, and signals corruption at the highest provincial levels. It takes away the capacity of citizens to shape municipalities and a province that are healthy for all, and sustainable (environmentally, fiscally, population-wise) over the long-term. This bill should not be passed. Leave the Endangered Species Act intact.
