I strongly object to the proposed exemptions from the Environmental Bill of Rights. Such exemptions will remove the right of Ontarians to be advised of, or to comment on, any required permits at Ontario Place, on or off site.

The Environmental Bill of Rights exists to ensure that Ontario's environment is protected for future generations. This applies to Ontario Place and thousands of Ontarians have spoken out about their concerns related to protection of this fragile waterfront ecosystem, providing well-informed, intelligent commentary along with realistic and reasonable alternatives to the government's current plans. This move deprives citizens of their rights and the government of valuable community knowledge.

The proposal fails in the public interest, compromises this critical waterfront site now and in the future, and benefits only the private interests of foreign companies. At a time when Ontario and the rest of the planet faces a climate and biodiversity crisis, the proposal represents another compromise in environmental protection, and citizen's rights to be informed.
