This bill cannot move forward. It is absolutely backwards. We continue to experience the damage from climate crisis in the form of extreme wildfires, flooding and this year's ice storm which left many people without power, and my family, heat and running water for 9 days. Over a month later we still do not have heat and hot water due to damage. Opening up areas for development means less natural protion from natural disasters. It also means less habitat for the 250 species on the endangered species list in Ontario. Biodiversity is life, water and land is life.
At this point in history we need strong environmental protections, not weaker. We cannot just build and consume and develop with no thought and no plan. This bill cannot move forward. It must stop and this government must start to govern with care and intention toward a liveable future for Ontario's species and people.
