There is absolutely no excuse for allowing this bill to pass when it proposes to allow the same thing Doug Ford's provincial government is already being investigated for after the Greenbelt scandal.
Ontarians have stated loud and clear that they are not okay with destroying protected environments and green spaces for short term profit when the long term consequences will be paid for by the citizens of Ontario for generations to come.
Sugar coating this bill with flowery language like "unleashing the economy" is disingenuous to say the least. This bill, if passed, will not be for the benefit of the people of Ontario, but for the handful of developers who stand to profit immensely from purchasing otherwise unusable land, and from overpriced government contracts to "develop" those lands.
Doug Ford won some temporary grace from the people of Ontario with his strong language against the current US administration, but this does not give him carte blanche to resume the type of corrupt schemes he is already under multiple investigations for.
The people will not forget, and this administration will be held accountable if they continue to mistreat and abuse the province for personal gain.
