Premier Ford,
Once again, you’re pushing legislation that favors short-term gains for developers over the long-term health of our environment. While the need for more housing is undeniable, sacrificing our natural heritage is not the solution. Bill 5 threatens to dismantle critical environmental protections, undermining the very ecosystems that sustain us.
This approach is not just environmentally reckless; it’s a disservice to the people of Ontario. We need leaders who think beyond immediate profits and consider the legacy we’re leaving (you’re leaving) for future generations. The Seventh Generation Principle teaches us to make decisions with the well-being of those yet to come in mind. It’s time to embody that wisdom.
I urge you to halt Bill 5 and engage with experts, Indigenous communities, and environmental advocates to develop housing strategies that are both effective and sustainable. Let’s build a future where economic growth and environmental stewardship go hand in hand - because it CAN, if the political will is there. You cannot expect my vote in the future if you continue to remain so short-sighted.
