This bill disregards the fragility of our environment. As the bill stands, unrepairable damage will occur before any assessment of its value.
This bill encourages developers to hide and dispose of environmental and cultural valuables before they are found by the government. I can imagine land developers finding Beaver dams, and destroying them asap before anyone sees them. I can imagine developers finding indigenous artifacts and throwing them in the dump instead of pausing their work and consulting the community and historical societies. Similar things like this WILL happen.
This bill is not good for Ontario. It encourages developers to destroy our land and our culture. It encourages covert destruction of valuables and undermines the rights of indigenous groups in the name of a quick buck.
There are ways to build homes faster that do not eliminate the things that make Ontarians proud. Do not pass this bill.
