I strongly oppose Bill 5, which represents an undemocratic overreach that undermines local governance and public participation in decision-making. By reducing representation or consolidating power without adequate consultation, this bill threatens the fundamental principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability in Ontario.
Decisions that significantly impact communities—whether related to local government, land use, healthcare, or education—must involve the people they affect. This bill disregards public voices, weakens civic institutions, and sets a dangerous precedent for future governance.
I urge our elected representatives to stand up for the rights of Ontarians and reject Bill 5. We need thoughtful, inclusive policy—not rushed legislation that centralizes authority and silences communities.
