I urge the Ontario government to reconsider Bill 5, which poses significant threats to our environment, Indigenous rights, and democratic processes. Repealing the Endangered Species Act and replacing it with weaker legislation undermines decades of conservation efforts. Granting unchecked powers to establish Special Economic Zones risks sidelining local communities and Indigenous voices. Accelerating development without adequate oversight endangers our natural heritage and the health of future generations. Ontario’s progress should not come at the cost of its environment and democratic values.
