Protecting endangered species means protecting all areas they are known to be active in, not just their supposed home. A singular den does not account for all the areas an animal may exist in for other means of survival. Protecting these species means ensuring they not only survive, but thrive. Conserving species does not keep them from extinction; active plans to recover what’s been lost and rehabilitate the species is needed. How incredibly selfish of you, to propose a new endangered species act, set up just so you can continue tearing the natural world apart. Our world is already dying, and you want to speed up the process of complete extinction? By choosing what animals are protected? By playing God, and choosing what lives and what dies all for your own gain?
I understand wanting to create a profit, I understand wanting to increase infrastructure like highways, I do. I understand wanting to speed up these processes as well. But you cannot do these things by sacrificing a land that is already struggling to live. You cannot do these things by sacrificing species and ecosystems that are already at risk of elimination. How would you feel, if your home became unprotected all because those who had been protecting it decided you were no longer needed? Decided you were only in the way of their goals, and believed you did not deserve to be protected for that reason?
Politicians and the government need to let the professionals - you know, the ones who studied years in school, and know these areas a thousand times better than you do - do their jobs. Unless you plan to explicitly hire scientists, who understand ecosystems like you understand sleep, to make these decisions and reorder the old act in a profitable but protecting manner, you will ruin everything. You do not know the environment well enough to make informed decisions to protect them. You just want to continue building without any legislation in your way to slow or halt the process altogether. It’s embarrassing, it’s stupid, it’s idiotic, and it’s incredibly telling of just what kind of people you are. It’s disgusting. You are disgusting.
I hope that if this bill goes through, the animals and species that will be kicked aside still somehow survive, and outlive anyone who voted for it to come into effect. I am deeply disappointed in every single one of you.
