I fervently oppose the Bill 5, Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025. How can anything that destroys the land and species that came before us, and who enable all citizens to live, be called “protecting”? Do we as humans care about nothing more than our selfish desires? All for the sake of economic growth? It is frankly embarrassing. Economic growth is a valid goal and desire, but when does the line get drawn? We have already gone too far, caused too much devastation to our land. The climate crisis is driven by greed and a reckless disregard for the planet. The exponential increase of urban sprawl means our children and their children and so on will grow up in a world that is lifeless, artificial, and a permanent reminder of the shameful decisions made by their predecessing generations. Greed is kills, greed destroys, greed turns life into the subject of history books. As kids we were taught to respect. It’s time to show nature some respect.
