I oppose Bill 5. The endangered species act itself doesn’t even provide enough protections to ensure our ecosystems remain healthy during and after economic and industrial development in an area. However, ecosystems that have endangered species are a clue that that ecosystem is already not healthy and any development should not be allowed. The air we breathe, the water we drink and the source of our food is reliant on clean healthy ecosystems. At a time when international trade is being threatened we should be protecting these essential ecosystems services more than ever. A government that creates Bill 5 is undermining the rights of its citizens and will never get my vote.
