These steps for environmental protection and regulation are important and critical in ensuring species at risk protection and habitats. Without these assessments who's to keep contractors and companies credible and true to the aspects they are saying they are conforming to? I do not agree with this and do not support this change. This is all an act to streamline construction without consideration for the environment. We MUST have environmental assessments. We MUST have accountability for actions and the proper regulatory steps to ensure environmental compliance. By removing the registration and permitting process this introduces 0% credibility and enforcement on developers who can not only lie on the registration but not follow the compensation steps required. Who follows up to make sure destruction of critical habitat is occurring? If they can register and immediatly start construction who's to say they the can't because of this critical habitat. By the time regulatory authorities will notice the issues with their registration, the damage will already be done.
We must have credibility and environmental compliance. We must have more stringent environmental protection. We must have regulation against skipping nessasary and critical environmental assessment steps.
This will place all jobs in environmental regulation and inspection in Ontario at risk.
DO NOT PUT THIS FORWARD.
