I wish to strongly protest bill 5 as it stands giving carte blanche to remove any species from the endangered list without appropriate justification.
• We are in a global biodiversity crisis, with over 230 plants and animals at risk in Ontario.
• The healthy forests, waters and wetlands that species at risk rely on sustain all Ontarians.
• The proposed plan to scrap the Endangered Species Act and create regulation-free zones for industry threatens the natural world.
• To build a healthy and resilient Ontario, we need a strong Endangered Species Act that protects imperiled species and natural systems ensuring communities can benefit from the many ecosystem services that nature freely provides.
