There is a valid reason for the process to obtain a permit to be slow and for this reason, I oppose bill 5. The role of government is to curb industry not unleash it. When industry is allowed to put immediate profit and not the future public good first, the government is not exercising due diligence. Ergo, I oppose short cuts for industry with no public oversight.

I want many things. I want stronger environmental and endangered species protections. I want our water protected. I want out provincial government to be run by individuals who have the protection of people and our land at the forefront of their thought process. I oppose overwriting laws in special economic zones.

Additionally, I take offence to the Americanisation of this proposal. If you are going to unleash anything, it should be funding for schools and hospitals.
