Having read through the summary and the general contents of the new proposed bill 5, I am extremely concerned by the vagueness of the language and the transfer of decision making power from oversight bodies to the government, directly in hand. I do feel that this has the potential to lead to misuses of power, and although I do agree that economic development must continue and expand in this province, I absolutely cannot support this through the contents of this Bill.

This entire proposal is looking the wrong way. The 'complicated process' it seeks to simplify in order to 'unleash' economic prosperity, is a flawed process because it was created with flawed tools. The slowness is not the fault of the environment, it is the fault of human inability to organize and execute complex agreements. As a result the protections should not be lifted from the environment, it makes no sense to punish NATURE for government inefficiency! It's madness. If the approvals process is too slow, the answer is NOT TO BULLDOZE FASTER.

I am in complete opposition to Bill 5's entire manner of approaching the issue. It is unimaginative, dusty, offensive, and backward. As a resident of Ontario and concerned citizen, I urge OLA to re-evaluate the entire approach to 'unleashing' anything onto our environment and exemplary habitats. Once it's released it will be much more difficult to contain again.
