Economic growth must be sustainable growth, a principle that the proposed new Species Conservation Act, 2025 overrides recklessly. Providing blanket exemption to only vaguely defined “trusted proponents” is dangerously irresponsible as all proponents are driven solely by their particular interests and beliefs. The public good requires balanced oversight, something the proposed bill does not ensure. I am opposed.
