As a biologist I do NOT support minimizing the role of COSSARO or COSEWIC. I also do NOT support any legislation that speeds up the time between registration and site development. Especially by removing steps. These things take time for a reason. It takes time to watch a site in all seasons and see how species use habitats year round. Speeding up any part of this process only hurts species at risk. If you are concerned about a back log of paperwork, perhaps hiring more people to work on that problem, instead of removing checks and balances. Our housing crisis is not due to limits or restrictions on building. There are other solutions that are quicker and don't put habitats and species more at risk.
