I hope this message finds you well. I am writing as a concerned constituent from the Toronto-Danforth community to express my opposition to Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025.

While I understand the intent to stimulate economic growth, I have serious reservations about the implications of this bill on environmental protections and Indigenous rights.

Some of my concerns are:

Environmental Oversight: The bill proposes to exempt projects in designated "special economic zones" from provincial regulations, including environmental assessments. This could lead to significant environmental degradation without proper oversight.

Indigenous Consultation: First Nations leaders have expressed concerns that the bill undermines their jurisdiction and lacks adequate consultation. It's imperative that any development respects the rights and voices of Indigenous communities.

Public Participation: By streamlining processes and reducing regulatory requirements, the bill may limit public input on projects that could have lasting impacts on communities and the environment.

I urge you to consider these concerns and advocate for a more balanced approach that promotes economic development without compromising environmental integrity and Indigenous rights.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I know you have a commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth in our province and trust you will help advocate for all of our community.

Thank you,
