This bill is simply a gutting of the Endangered species act, it is irresponsible, and seeks only short term economic benefits and would degrade ecological services made by a diverse community on which the current and future Ontario population relies.
Why is it only at the government's discretion to add or remove a species from the list? Will COSSARO be merely an advisor that can be disregarded? It completely throws the power balance off, in favor of the current government to do as they like, overlooking scientific facts when if they want to.
Taxpayers will only pay more down the road to have access to clean water and growing medical needs linked with increased pollution and the rise of zoonotic diseases, exacerbated by lower biodiversity.
