I am strongly opposed to any bill that reduces the effectiveness of the Endangered Species Act like Bill 5 proposes. Ontario is more than capable of producing enough new homes, businesses, and mining operations without circumventing established regulations and environmental assessments.
One of Canada's most widely recognized authors Eric Walters, wrote a book decades ago called "Safe as Houses" as a warning of what can happen when we don't have robust environmental regulations or assessments. Canadians (including current members of my community) lost homes, precious family heirlooms and even their lives after homes were built on floodplain and were washed away.
This Bill is dangerous and unnecessary for the prosperity of Ontario.
