I oppose the bill. The original species specifications were deliberately non-specific since a "one-size-fits-all" approach does not acknowledge the diversity in our flora and fauna and the fact that they cannot all be measured or evaluated in the same way. Listen to the scientists who actually know the reality. Do not join forces with the incompetents running the nation south of our border in willfully endangering our ecosystem. Redevelopment of lands should be limited to areas that are not currently deemed wildlife ecosystems, i.e., have already been previously developed and need to be upgraded to a new purpose. The City of Hamilton is doing a stellar job of developing land that is inside its borders, giving new purpose to abandoned parking lots, or degraded structures. I feel very strongly that the bill you have proposed must be abandoned. You must advocate that other municipalities do the same as Hamilton and not bow down to developers who would slash and burn without regard to the greater good. May Ontario, Canada serve as a role model for the rest of our planet.
