In Ontario alone, there are over 230 plant and animal species that are at risk. As said by Ontario Nature "Their loss or decline affects the functioning and resilience of food webs and landscapes – jeopardizing the well-being of all living beings, including humans.". Removing their protections for economic benefit will continue to grow this number and add to the decline of our environment. Therefore, I oppose Bill 5. As a young adult living in Ontario, I want strong environmental protections. I oppose shortcuts for industry that harm the environment. I oppose overriding the law to protect endangered species in the name of creating special economic zones.
