I'm deeply disappointed by the Ford government's proposed changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act. These amendments would strip away essential protections for our most vulnerable wildlife, allowing harmful development to proceed without proper oversight. Permitting developers to bypass permits simply by registering their activities undermines accountability and prioritizes profit over preservation. Even more concerning is giving the government the power to arbitrarily add or remove species from the at-risk list. These changes threaten to accelerate extinction rather than prevent it. Ontario’s biodiversity deserves better.
We have already seen the effects the Ontario Place development disaster has had on wildlife in the area please do not make this mistake again. As an Ontarian I want affordable housing but this is not the way. Not at the cost of our environment.
Thank you for your time.
