Premier Ford, withdraw bill 5
I am writing to express my strong opposition to Bill 5. This bill threatens Ontario’s environment, the protection of endangered species, Indigenous rights, and the democratic principles that govern our province.
Bill 5 would grant Cabinet sweeping authority to override provincial and municipal laws — including the Endangered Species Act — while removing public oversight from the process entirely. This opens the door to unchecked political favouritism and undermines the rule of law.
The lack of meaningful consultation with First Nations communities is also deeply troubling. Your government’s pattern of minimal engagement, followed by claims of adequate consultation, is both misleading and disrespectful.
Ontarians deserve integrity, transparency and accountability in leadership — not legislation that silences the public and weakens our democracy.
I urge you to withdraw Bill 5 immediately
