The two most critical things humans need to survive are clean air and clean water. Intact natural ecosystems freely provide both of those to us. Let’s preserve our invaluable green spaces so they can continue to provide us with clean air and water.

We can develop elsewhere, like existing paved areas. We can build up, not out; make use of existing vacant lots and buildings, retrofitting these as needed; densify existing grey areas; and build more efficiently with smarter designs that use up less space.

My six-week old daughter deserves a future where she can live in Ontario with clean air, clean water, and intact ecosystems that provide these natural resources while protecting habitat for wildlife, reducing the risks of climate change and mitigating flood hazards.
