We need more environmental protections to preserve our beautiful country, not bulldozing over it to build box stores and parking lots. How about you take a look into building higher density housing, walkable infrastructure and improve public transit to reduce the need for parking lots and multi-lane arterial roads and highways. Maybe with less car-centric infrastructure we’ll have more space for housing? Why not convert empty office buildings into apartments? Your first step should not be to destroy our beautiful province and sell off the land to private developers. You should be seeking other non-environmentally protected locations, rezoning of existing usable land allowing for mixed commercial and residential use. A single change in the ecosystem can have cascading effects on all of nature not even mentioning your plan to destroy it completely. This proposal is just a ploy to change the meaning of words legally to open up loopholes.
