As the decades long owner of a s.29 Ontario Heritage Act property, I have to ask myself why I bothered to be so careful in protecting this cultural heritage resource - on behalf of the municipality and province - if its integrity and long term viability can be so easily wiped out by legislation such as the Special Economic Zones Act. I know firsthand that the conservation of heritage resources is not at odds with the agenda to build affordable housing.
