I think we humans forget that we live on Earth - not above it. The environment is our home, and we share it with countless other species. It’s not just a backdrop for development or a resource to exploit. Every species plays a role in the ecosystem we depend on for clear air, water, food, and a stable climate.
Protecting endangered species isn’t a luxury - it’s a responsibility. Weakening protections, eliminating recovery strategies, and narrowing definitions of habitat send a dangerous message: that convenience and profit matter more than long-term ecological survival.
The changes proposed until Bill 5 and the replacement of the Endangered Species Act with the Species Conservation Act put biodiversity at serious risk. They undermine science, reduce accountability, and place too much discretion in political hands.
Please reconsider this approach. True progress and prosperity can only come from living in balance with nature - not at its expense.
