I’ve spent two years studying native species and their importance to the biodiversity that ensures the health of every creature on Earth, perhaps most importantly, the human race. I’ve learned about how introduction of foreign species, misinformation surrounding the importance of preserving wild lands and our rampant consumerism has negatively impacted our ecosystem. The biggest factor in all of this is the expansion of urban landscapes and the disgusting destruction of habitats and species of plants and animals for the purpose of commercialism. These are sacred lands, that belong to the indigenous people of Turtle Island. They have been stewards of this land for millennia. We need to move forward in reconciling these lands and protecting them not fostering their destruction. This is a promise we’ve made to generations past, present and most importantly future. The ramifications of Bill 5 will most definitely destroy the positive improvements we have made as a society to mitigate the destructive influence we’ve had on this land. It will block further progress of these important restoration and protection efforts. Please block Bill 5! See the bigger picture, and resolve to stop the degradation of this land we’re privileged enough to call home.
