I strongly oppose these proposals. Based on my reading of the proposed Bill 5 and news reports, I believe that these proposed changes and new legislation will push Ontario's environmental protections and progress two steps back instead of forward. I do not believe that the possible gains for the economy outweigh the losses to Ontario or Canada as a whole. The world is in a biodiversity crisis; this is not the time to weaken protections for endangered and threatened species. Unleashing our economy will not help Ontario combat and survive the climate crisis. Ontarians deserve better than to lose our province, our animal and plant neighbours, and our healthy future. I urge you to cancel Bill 5 and instead develop stronger protections for our environment.
