These amendments would weaken the oversight and protections that are essential for the survival of vulnerable wildlife across the province.
Allowing development to proceed with less review and shifting key decisions away from science-based processes increases the risk of irreversible harm to species and their habitats. Protecting biodiversity requires careful, informed decision-making — not deregulation and shortcuts.
I urge the government to reject this proposal and instead strengthen the Act by maintaining strong, science-based protections and ensuring environmental decisions put the long-term health of ecosystems ahead of short-term development interests.
