Having fished in a few US States where mobile applications were used to purchase a visitor license I have seen this done with efficacy.
There should be an explicit requirement that the app dev work needed is not farmed out to a US firm. Canadian companies should be developing Canadian govt applications.
Also there should be the option where like any other app you have to opt-in and agree to use location services however if you do - it would allow the user to pinpoint their location and get accurate up-to-date info regarding the FMZ they are in along with easy to understand regulations about species identification, seasons, slot limits, fish sanctuaries and additional foshong opportunities nearbye etc. This info could also easily be translated into many other languages to make legal fishing more accessible to all Canadians regardless of their preferred language.
