I am a fifteen year old who lives 1.8 kilometres from where they are proposing to put a dump at 29831 Irish School Road, Dresden, ON. When I look out my living room and kitchen windows, that’s where the dump will be. I do not think it is a good idea for many reasons. A full Environmental Assessment will prove it is not a good idea. Please do not include the repeal of Ontario Regulation 284/24 within Bill 5.

A dump will make the road by my house way too busy. 700 trucks a day means lots of noise, accidents and emissions. The roads here are not made for that much traffic. I use that road many times a day to go to Lambton Kent Composite School, to the arena, soccer field, baseball field, to church, to stores and to see friends. A dump will make the road way too busy.

I like to fish in the creeks around here and also the Sydenham River. Molly’s Creek runs right through the property of the proposed dump and then on to the Sydenham River. The Sydenham River is one of the most species rich rivers in all of Canada. It needs to be protected. There are already plenty of Species at Risk in the Sydenham. There is no guarantee that Molly’s Creek, the Sydenham River or the waterwells of neighbours will not be affected.

This farmland is some of the best for corn, wheat and beans. The next generation of farmers my age will inherit this land you are wanting to use and change. We need to protect the water, the land, the species that live here and the air we breathe.

I know we need to recycle but this is not the spot to do it. There must be land, without houses, creeks and rivers, closer to major highways that would be more suitable for a dump.

Please do not include the repeal of Ontario Regulation 284/24 within Bill 5. A full Environmental Assessment will prove it is not a good idea to use 29831 Irish School Road, Dresden, ON as a landfill, recycling facility and/or waste facility.
