I thoroughly, strongly, and vehemently object, with my entire being, to the proposed exemptions from the Environmental Bill of Rights that will remove the right of Ontarians to be advised of, or to comment on, any required permits at Ontario Place, on or off site, to support the project.
The Environmental Bill of Rights exists to ensure that we steward the land for generations to come. Thousands of Ontarians have voiced their concerns about the fragile waterfront ecosystem and provided ample evidence for their concerns and reasonable alternatives to the government's current plans.
This move deprives citizens of their rights, but of their access to information in general. It's blatantly corrupt.
The proposal is not in any way in the public interest, compromises the future of this critical waterfront site and serves only to benefit the private interests of foreign companies. We are in the midst of a climate crisis and mass extinction - we need to act like it.
