There is nothing more important than preserving our ecological home for future generations. Past actions have already brought us to a point where the earth’s ability to support human life is threatened. And we know that the ecosystems that supply us with food and water are dependent on so many species of plant, animal, and fungi.
The reduction of environmental review and the change of the review body from scientists to politicians is irresponsible.
Public servants have a duty to take care of resources for the whole population, which means stewardship of the entire ecological system. It is not in the public interest to sacrifice the livability of our planet for profit.
Beyond this bill’s likely impact driving the destruction of human and other than human habitat faster and making lives worse for our children and grand-children, it violates the sovereign rights of First Nations. This makes it an illegal act.
