This is absolutely disgraceful. How about instead of continuing to sprawl the suburbs indefinitely out into protected areas we focus on increasing the density of existing zones with row houses or nice condos? This has the added benefit of forcing companies to build the kind of housing Canadians can actually afford instead of the $1 million+ stand alone McMansions they build now.
The idea we can continue to expand our cities forever while encroaching on the habitat of these creatures without killing them is nonsense. You might not be the one pulling the trigger, but if they have nowhere to live and nothing to eat, how do you expect them to survive?
Shame on you for putting the profits of a few construction companies ahead of the needs to Canadians and their natural inheritance.
