I vehemently oppose these exemptions form the Environmental Bill of Rights that will remove the right of Ontarians to be advised of and comment on any required permits at Ontario Place, on or off site.
The whole point of the Environmental Bill of Rights is to make sure our environment in all its forms is protected for us and future generations. Already 1000s of people have spoken out against the Ontario Place project because of the destruction to the fragile waterfront ecosystem. We've already made solid cases against the government's current plans, as well as reasonable alternatives.
This proposal is simply not in the public interest. It serves only the private interests and foreign companies involved, while breaking environmental protections at a time when the planet is already facing severe threats to climate and biodiversity.
