As a concerned citizen, I strongly oppose the proposed changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act. These amendments appear to prioritize convenience for developers at the expense of environmental protections that have taken years to build. Allowing development to proceed with minimal oversight and weakening science-based decision-making is a dangerous path that will lead to irreversible damage to Ontario’s ecosystems.
I urge the government to uphold strong, science-driven protections for species at risk and their habitats. Environmental laws should be strengthened, not stripped down to make way for short-term development gains. Transparent public processes and independent scientific input are essential checks and balances that must be preserved — not bypassed.
Please put conservation and the long-term public interest above private development pressures. Our natural heritage and future generations depend on it.
