The new definition of habitat is troubling. Wild animals also need big areas to feed themselves, otherwise they will not survive.
I also find it troubling that developers could immediately start projects without any approvals. Environmental and ecosystem damage is not always reversible and the impact can't be mitigated after the fact.
The Province should focus on infill development, increasing housing density throughout the Province so that we don't have to develop on new land. There are numerous studies that show that we have enough areas that can be infilled. We also don't need new highways. The Province should focus on providing more frequent and faster rail transit, during the week and the weekend, which should require a minimal amount of areas for the upgrades.
We can build a strong economy without destroying our habitats.
