Bill 5 is a direct affront to Indigenous sovereignty and stewardship. By repealing the Endangered Species Act and removing consultation requirements, the government is ignoring its duty to meaningfully engage Indigenous communities and uphold treaty rights.
This Bill allows corporations to bypass environmental safeguards and fast-track harmful development on lands that Indigenous Peoples have protected and lived in harmony with for generations. It is not only environmentally reckless, it is a violation of trust and a step backward on the path toward reconciliation.
We cannot build a better Ontario by silencing Indigenous voices or destroying their lands. Withdraw Bill 5, restore environmental protections, and honour your commitments to Indigenous Peoples.
