Bill 5 “raises a number of potential areas of significant concern that if not properly considered and addressed, could have a negative impact on the ability of municipalities to comprehensively and effectively plan for the sustainable growth of their communities and ensure the protection of agricultural land and other natural resources over the long term.”
The Ontario Provincial government is taking advantage of the current political upheavals and is behaving in a most undemocratic manor akin to the atrocities unfolding in the U.S. to strip labour laws, override Indigenous rights, Municipal By-Laws and vital environmental protections. The current provincial government is demonstrating once again that it is not for the people of Ontario or Canada, but rather deceptively manipulative in favour of the exploitive few who stand to profit from dismantling laws put in place as a result of careful, thoughtful forward thinking processes designed to ensure the health of the environment which directly impacts human health, well-being and prosperity. Bill 5 is bad legislation reflecting an untrustworthy, irresponsible government.
