I am a life-long resident of Ontario, and I object to this proposal. Part of Ontario's beauty is in its diverse wildlife, including many endangered and vulnerable species that are protected by the ESA. I take great pride and joy in the ability to go to protected environmental spaces and enjoy nature, and that we still have many endangered and vulnerable species thriving in Ontario, even in the depths of the city. We should be doubling our efforts to protect our animal and plant neighbours, especially in the face of climate change, not sacrificing them on the altar of productivity.
We can co-exist with our wildlife while also increasing housing and development efforts. Overturning the ESA is not the way forward.
