The proposed changes to Ontario's ESA would most certainly cause significant detrimental impacts to species at risk in Ontario that play vital roles within their ecosystems. Such changes to allow developers to come in without delay from vital processes needed to adequately assess the potential harms that would befall an area being open for development is something that should not ever be allowed. These proposed changes are a cheap fast way for developers to come in and destroy our beautiful country and leave habitats and ecosystems irrevocably changed. As a conservationist, biologist and Indigenous person, I cannot stand by and let such things happen, we must be the champions for our land and for everything that lives on it. Allowing critical habitat and species to fall to development all for the greed of a few people will have long lasting negative impacts on the ecosystem, that will undoubtedly cause more problems down the road. We cannot in a time of massive global climate change, be allowing easier access to areas that play critical roles in the regulation of our climatic systems and for species at risk.
