The proposition to repeal the Endangered Species Act is not only an affront to ecological integrity, but Ontario's unique cultural identity. As an Ontarian, I consider our wilderness to be a source of great provincial pride. From Point Pelee to Algonquin, Ontario is world-renowned for its unique landscapes and the many species which inhabit them. At a time where Canadians seek to maintain distinction from our American neighbours, the last thing we should be doing is following in the Trump government's footsteps by eliminating species protections and permitting reckless development of such significant spaces.
