Just another sad case of the GTA dumping on Chatham-Kent (literally and figuratively). For 40 years the Ridge Landfill has been the dumping ground for Toronto garbage and now this ridiculous proposal right at the edge of Dresden. Why can’t the Ridge Landfill be used for York1’s construction debris? It could easily handle the additional tonnage, it would be a drop in the bucket. Anyone who promotes a long-dormant site at the edge of a small town surrounded by creeks and rivers over a long-operational dump site is clearly either misguided or insane. And you’ve sacrificed the town’s MPP to do it. Everything about this deal stinks, when there’s an obvious solution right in front of you — use Ridge Landfill instead.
